A wedding party photographed in rented, almost-fitting suits looks like a wedding party in rented, almost-fitting suits. The Tailored Man has dressed grooms and their groomsmen from our Tysons Corner showroom since 1969 – each man measured individually, the whole party coordinated to one plan, and everyone keeps the suit when the day is over.

How Group Fittings Work

The groom comes in first. We settle his look – wedding suit or tuxedo, cloth, styling – and then plan the party around it. Groomsmen can be measured together in one appointment block or come in individually as their schedules allow; either way, each man gets his own measurement file and his own fitting. The party coordinates; the fit never compromises.

Coordinated, Not Identical

Most parties run the same cloth for the groomsmen with the groom distinguished – a different shade, a different lapel, a tuxedo against suits, or subtler moves like lining and buttonhole details. Because every garment is cut to order from the same fabric books (Loro Piana, Holland & Sherry, Ermenegildo Zegna, Scabal, Dormeuil, Stylbiella and more), a six-man party with six different builds still photographs as one party.

Out-of-Town Groomsmen

Scattered party? It happens more often than not. We schedule measurements when each groomsman is in town – holidays, the engagement party, a bachelor weekend – and time the final fittings close to the wedding. Tell us the wedding date and where everyone lives, and we will build the schedule backward from there.

Timeline

Most garments are ready for a first fitting in seven weeks. For a wedding or an event, plan on ordering about twelve weeks ahead. For a full wedding party we recommend starting 4 to 6 months before the wedding so every fitting lands without stress. On a tighter clock? Call us – we will tell you honestly what is possible.

What It Costs

Custom suits, with most clients landing between $1,295 and $1,995 (premium fabrics from $1,295; the Iniziare collection is the entry point at $895, half-canvas) and custom tuxedos from $1,095. Set against a $200–$300 rental that goes back the Monday after the wedding, a custom garment each man keeps and wears for years is a different kind of math – we walk through it in our guide to tuxedo-rental alternatives and our custom suit pricing guide.

Wedding Party FAQ

How far in advance should the wedding party start?

Four to six months before the wedding is comfortable. Garments are ready for a first fitting in seven weeks, but a buffer keeps out-of-town schedules easy.

Do all the groomsmen need to come in together?

No. One group appointment is the easiest way, but groomsmen can be measured individually whenever they are in town – each man has his own file.

How much do groomsmen suits cost?

Custom suits start at $895 and custom tuxedos at $1,095; most clients land between $1,295 and $1,995 depending on cloth. Every man keeps his garment.

Can the groom look different from the groomsmen?

He should. A different shade, lapel, or a tuxedo against suits – we plan the distinction with you at the first fitting.
