A suit starts with a conversation: where you will wear it, how you like your clothes to fit, and what you already own. Then we take 49 measurements in the showroom and note your posture and build. The shape, the style and the details are yours to decide, and we will tell you plainly what we think suits you.

The Cloth

Next, it’s time to select your fabric. We offer an extensive range of cloth from the best mills and merchants in the world, including Loro Piana, Holland & Sherry, Dormeuil, Vitale Barberis Canonico, Ermenegildo Zegna, Reda, Drago, Scabal, Ariston Napoli, Harris Tweed, Standeven, E. Thomas, Albini, Tollegno, Stylbiella and Guabello. We are here to advise on the wide range of fabrics available, from breathable, lightweight, and mid-weight options. Whether you’re looking for a worsted wool, or a lighter linen blend for the warmer Washington summers, we have you covered.

Fit

Your Pattern

We take forty-nine measurements, and those measurements are used to draft a pattern that belongs to you. Not a stock block graded up or down to get close. A pattern cut for your body, kept on file, and refined with every garment you order after the first.

The make

How It Is Made

Once you select your fabric and your order is placed, that pattern goes to a Hong Kong atelier we’ve worked with for over twenty years. Their canvas work is the reason we can stand behind the fit, and the reason our floor is a half-canvas garment rather than a fused one. Production takes seven weeks to your first fitting. For a wedding or an event, plan on ordering about twelve weeks ahead.

Once your suit arrives back at our store, we will schedule a fitting session where any necessary adjustments will be made to ensure an impeccable fit that exceeds your expectations.

The shaded area is the canvas, the layer between the cloth and the lining that gives a coat its shape. More on fit and construction.
